I’m constantly on the lookout for places to photograph and paint. Anything near home is that much more convenient. Lake Cunningham is a 25 minute drive and has some nice access points. Getting a shoreline photo is way easier in the winter – just walk out on the ice! This was taken looking west as the sun rose in the east, coloring the sky.
It’s a little unnerving walking on ice but it has been so cold for such a long time that I didn’t worry. You could have driven a truck out here. The Monday morning sky cooperated closer to dawn than actual sunrise. Here’s what that looks like.
