My Story & New Articles

I came through the tunnel at Yosemite to that first view of El Capitan. It was dawn and the sky was yawning and stretching with new light. Photographers lined the parking lot in front of the most magnificent view I had seen on my trip. I thought it was funny that the real “picture” here was them all lined up with their cameras.

I write about my personal challenges because it may help someone else. It amounts taking care of yourself and being aware that things can change and being prepared with many resources. My early posts were about psychology, journaling, and working on life matters with my family. I knew when I left home that there would need to be apologies and reparations for upsetting my family and giving up my job. I’m living that now as well as practicing art on a regular basis. Art turns out to be great therapy for an over-stressed life.

My recent posts focus on watercolor art techniques, innovative concepts for plaster and resin artwork, and my overarching exploration of topography, shape, color, light, and shadow.

Vacation Paintings

Something I can do may interest you… When I go on vacation I take plenty of photographs. I love the coast, the beach, mountains, forest and scenery in general. I like to get somewhere and relax. I could watch the ocean forever. A vacation brings me inspiration while at work during the rest of the year. Working full time is hard and a person needs inspiration. I’ve painted watercolors of scenery for many years and paintings of the places I’ve been hang on my walls. On a tough day its helpful to think about relaxing on the beach, or the smell of the mountains. We spend so much time at work in order to finally retire one day. Take a picture of where you have been, that gives you inspiration. Frame it and put it on the wall in your office. If you like art then a tasteful watercolor painting might be a higher form of inspiration. I can paint your scenery photo on 11″ x 14″ and send that to you for your own framing. I can also make or chose a frame to your specifications, including the beveled cut mat board window. One stop service. Please call for a quote. If you’re not pleased with my work then return it for a full refund within 14 days. An 11″ x 14″ watercolor painting can be done for $100. Send me an email of your photo and I can get started. I will check with you at particular steps along the way so that the end result is what you want.
