I have dreamed, designed and built a whimsical transparent resin lighthouse as a unique art piece to decorate your home. The photograph below shows a prototype.  The walls are tapered shapes in a hexagon.  Using a hexagon for the base, walls, and catwalk was the most desireable criteria for me.  The other requirement was a spiral staircase which I made of welded brass.  You’ll love the quality of craftmanship and the charm and beauty of this 15″ tall LED table lamp accent light. Some of the curious elements of this piece are the blue resin walls and hexagon base poured over transparent calcite rock pieces. A brass spiral staircase rises up from the first floor through the lighthouse to the lantern room. This artwork is functional as a night light or accent lamp in your bedroom or den. The power source is 12 volt from an AC DC adapter plugged into the wall. DC power lights the blue-green LED in the lantern room and the white LED illuminating the the first floor.

The stepped hexagon base contains the electrical components and connects to the walls extending up to the lower walk. The walkway is marked in alternating black and white so it can be seen from a distance (by sailors). The design changes to a circle for the upper part of the lighthouse including the black and white conical roof. Lighthouses are a navigational aid that needs to be seen day and night.  Their charm is exceeded only by their purpose, to guide lost people home.

This is a metaphor to me, for my life of searching and seeking why and what I am supposed to do. I always thought I would do something special; perhaps it is making lighthouses. The geometry of it is intensely interesting, hexagons seem like the strongest building element. Along the coast the wind often blows and the water is eternally pushing and pulling. Something tall at the edge of the ocean must be supported by a strong foundation and built structurally strong to withstand the forces of nature.
