Drift Off to Sleep with Pretty Lights
Introducing Watercolor Wildflowers Planetary Nightlight. These ornamental accents are one part of the https://watercolorwildflowers.com/ornamental-accents/ designed and crafted by Omaha’s resin artist John Meng-Frecker. The LED base shines beautifully colored light into the resin globe which has curved and patterned surfaces inside. Curious details show from the refraction of light. An acrylic disc covered in clear resin separates two halves of the globe. The globe rests on the LED puck light and is held in place by an O ring and Earth’s gravity.
Some nightlights have small bubbles inside the resin. I think it adds to the effect of looking like a planet. But, if you want yours clear of bubbles then please call me to set that up. I have several types of resin. I can use a vacuum pump to pull out the air and then a heat gun to pop remaining. Some resins are thicker and produce bubbles while curing. The thin resin like Epodex is very thin so bubbles usually do not appear.
Nightlight Design
I designed these silent nightlights to look like pretty planets in the night sky. In a darkened room that is exactly what they look like! The multiple modes and wide variety of colors comes from your chosen settings for the LED base. It is a genius little puck light with many options on the remote control.
My challenges in perfecting the design was to achieve clarity, refraction, reflection, simplicity, and beauty. After making an imperfect dozen spheres with disks coated in clear resin, I dubbed these the best Version 2. That is what you see here and I have several in stock.

Dependable Nightlight
As an added bonus these nightlights are strong and hard resin. There’s an O ring welded with resin to the puck light so the planet doesn’t roll off the LED. The puck light LED base is powered by three AAA batteries. Try Lithium rechargeable batteries like Pale Blue. Another choice is to order with a steady LED puck light powered by AC instead of batteries. My office has a pair of blue globes next to their earth globe in the front office. The blue is company signature color so it serves as a branding element where customers stand at the front desk.

The above two videos were made in my studio with the curtains pulled to darken the room. You can see how more than one nightlight could really spark some imagination. Each light comes with it’s own remote control but usually one controller affects nearby lights. I had to restart them all at different times to get this wild effect of many colors.
